Mari

Meet Mari Wigren - Creative Director/Sommelier/CEO

Ångbryggeriet was opened in 2016 by Mari Wigren, an entrepreneur with roots in Vaasa, Finland. Mari has always had a strong passion for cooking – a passion that was ignited in childhood. At the age of 19, she began studying to be a chef, but life had more to offer. That same year, she got the chance to pursue her other great interest: football. Her career took off and Mari left Vaasa to play elite football in Norway for five intense years.

But even though football was the focus, Mari kept her love for food and drink alive. On the side, she worked as a chef at several restaurants in Oslo and deepened her knowledge by training as a bar master. Her dream of understanding and mastering the entire restaurant world began to take shape.

At the age of 25, Mari decided to hang up her football boots and instead focus entirely on her calling in the restaurant business. A new vision began to take shape, and goals were written on her map – including running five restaurants before she turned 50. And already now, with several successful projects behind her, she has checked off the first point. But for Mari, this is just the beginning – more goals are on the horizon, and they are being checked off one by one.

Mari's greatest passion is food and drink, a passion that truly permeates everything at Ångbryggeriet. It's noticeable in every detail, from the ingredients to the atmosphere in the premises. For anyone visiting Ångbryggeriet, it becomes clear: this is about more than just food – this is about an experience.

Tobias

Meet Tobias Berg - Restaurant Manager

Tobias is a passionate and driven individual who has found his place at Ångbryggeriet, where he currently works as the restaurant manager and bar supervisor. With an eye for detail and a deep love for food and drink, he is a natural leader within the restaurant team.
His interest in food and drink began early, and there was never any doubt that the restaurant industry was his true calling. Tobias has a unique ability to create a genuine experience for guests, where everything from the atmosphere to the service and menu choices is carefully considered. As the bar supervisor, he is an expert at crafting creative and flavorful cocktails, and his interest in beverages goes far beyond the ordinary. He is currently training to become a sommelier, which further enhances his knowledge and passion for pairing wine and food in the best possible way.
What truly sets Tobias apart is his genuine commitment to his colleagues and guests. He is a leader who not only manages but also inspires and coaches his team. His ability to create a cohesive and passionate workforce is one of Ångbryggeriet’s greatest strengths.
For Tobias, it’s not just about running a restaurant – it’s about creating an experience where all the senses are engaged. And at Ångbryggeriet, it’s clear that he has found the perfect place to do just that.

Therese

Meet Therese Ekström - Deli manager

Therese is from Degerfors – a lively and energetic person who not only spreads joy around her but is also a true master of cheese. Her passion for food, especially cheese, has always been a big part of her life, and it’s something that truly shines through when she talks about her favorite cheeses.

As the store manager of Ångbryggeriet's delicatessen, Therese is the heart and soul of the shop. She is not only an expert in cheese but also in building relationships with customers. Her knowledge and passion for delicacies mean she always has something new to recommend – and she loves guiding customers to new flavors and experiences. In the shop, you’ll find her carefully curated selection of cheeses, cured meats, and other delicacies that she personally believes in and is passionate about.

Therese has a unique ability to make others feel relaxed and welcome, which makes her a beloved and appreciated person both at work and outside of it. Her cheerful and bubbly personality makes it easy for her to connect with people, and her positive energy rubs off on everyone she meets.

Her attention to detail and well-developed taste palate constantly surprises with her cheese selections and combinations. She’s one of those people who can make almost anything taste better – not just because of her expertise, but because she does it with heart and soul.

From Degerfors to today’s adventures, Therese is someone who always shares herself and never hesitates to spread her joy and passion. When she’s around, it’s impossible not to feel a little happier and more curious about life – and of course, about cheese!
